‘persistence’ is a short DV animation utilising time lapse photography of seeds germinating. Shot over several weeks in the spring of 2007, it shows the growth of five plants indigenous to the Lizard peninsula as they progress from seed to their first pair of leaves. The featured plants are indigenous to the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, suggesting their continued presence since the last ice age ended 10,000 years ago. Small and unassuming, several were noted in herbals for their medicinal properties, indicating people in the past had particular interest in, and knowledge of, them.
